New stamp pays tribute to cartoonist Serge Chapleau

Canada Post has decided to market a new stamp that pays tribute to cartoonist Serge Chapleau for his unique take on 50 years of topicality. The choice of caricature for the stamp can be read on the Canada Post site: " His design, selected for the stamp, expresses the bitter taste left in many Quebecers by the great rally organized in Montreal, three days before the 1995 referendum vote on Quebec sovereignty. On October 27, 1995, some 150 Canadians from across the country invaded the Quebec metropolis to proclaim their love for the Belle Province, an event strongly criticized by the sovereignist camp. »
